A Few Words on... Two Door Cinema Club - Beacon
There's something undeniably catchy regarding Two Door Cinema Club's follow-up to the popular and surprisingly good debut. While never branching out in a new radical direction and keeping it relatively safe.
Whether it's lead single Sleep Alone with one of the best outro's of the year, Someday with the harmonic, sing-a-long bridge or Handshake which shares more than a passing resemblance to New Order, like Tourist History, there's enough distinction between tracks to avoid the horrors of being generic, but it doesn't sound like songs were thrown on for the sake of filling time.
There's moments to loose yourself, there's times to reflect on Alex Trimble's fragile, easy on the ear vocals and more. Just don't take it too seriously and you'll find one of pop's better acts with another good album under it's belt.
7/10
