Keeping things short; The Hunger Games is the pre-teen, Americanised version of Battle Royale. While nowhere near as bad as that could possibly be; it's lack of substance, unexplained plot elements (I've heard that the book naturally goes more in detail) and bum-numbing running time detract from an otherwise strong cast with some great set-pieces and action sequences.
If you liked Twilight and managed to escape your institution but during your time; wanted a better developed female lead in exchange for a love triangle; knowing how late this has come, you've probably already seen it, but if not, check it out, you might be surprised.
