Retcon Nation's Top Ten Games of E3 2014

E3 2014 showcase was, in short, vastly improved from recent years showings. Sure, EA’s outing was disappointing with nothing more than sports rehashes and microscopic showings of the next Mass Effect and Star Wars Battlegrounds games.

Sure; Nintendo didn’t really have a presentation and yeah, after being burned by the Watch-Dogs fiasco, gamers are bit more cautious regarding pre-release visuals and scripted sequences.

But E3 2014 was excellent. It was far, far more difficult to pick just ten this year and Nintendo finally makes an entry on the list after last year’s absence (and no, I just don’t care enough about Super Smash Bros., sue me).

Retcon-Nation's Top Ten Games of E3 2013

Another year, another e3, another recap. An important one too; Nintendo for the first time downsizing their presence with the ongoing failure that is the Wii U. Microsoft did everything humanly possible wrong with the up and coming Xbox One to the point that they had to backtrack on everything (thus making their press conference...wait for it...retconned).

And Sony played it safe and, for a week, looked like the clear winner of the next generation.

But consoles can only go so far, and unlike the big three who keep pushing gimmicks, whether it's touchscreen controllers that no one wants to develop for, a camera that offers an Orwellian nightmare or sharing every useless aspect of your playtime; it's games that gamers want and, as with every year, here is my top ten titles of the year.

Retcon-Nation's Top Ten Games of E3 2012

For those who followed our twitter feed (which you probably don't, but it's here regardless), E3 2012 was the year of crossbows, neck-stabs and touch screens. Microsoft beat Nintendo to the punch with a handheld DVD extra initialiser called Smart-Glass (more like Smart-Arse amirite?), Nintendo underwhelmed the entire universe with further info on the Wii-U's mostly casual market with rehashes of old games (Yay! Mass Effect 3 and Arkham City...A YEAR LATE!) and Sony took a left turn at uselessness town with their Wonderbook (complete with on-stage mishaps!).

But enough about peripherals; it's games you want and games you shall get! Listed is my top ten titles from this year's show...and just as a forewarning, as a PS3 owner, there's a few exclusives on here so apologies if it seems a tad biased (I'm sure if I cared about Halo, Gears of War or Call of Duty anymore, they'd be here).
